Geography
The Geography department at Ellen Wilkinson consists of five members, each bringing their own specialist knowledge and experience to the school. The department consists of four dedicated teaching rooms with a variety of equipment including interactive whiteboards, Geography field equipment and a newly equipped computer room dedicated to Geography and Tourism studies.
Field Trips are an essential part of a students' Geographical education and so students have the oppotunity to attend trips closely related to subjects studied in class. In Year 8, all students have the opportunity to visit Hastings beach to conduct a coastal field-work project.
The department's results at GCSE and A-Level have improved steadily each year. In 2009, 70% of students achieved A*- C at GCSE, and in 2010 this rose to 72%.
Geography continues to be a popular choice at GCSE and A-Level, and is a highly sought-after subject by both colleges and universities. Staff enthusiasm and encouragement within the department are testament to this and the department constantly strives to offer Ellen Wilkinson students the best educational opportunities.
The school uses the AQA examination board for both the GCSE and A-Level syllabuses. For more details, please follow the links to the official website:
