ICT

ICT is studied by all girls at EWS in Key stage 3 & 4 and is a popular choice at KS5.  Indeed, most students regularly use iCt at EWS and produce high quality work.

We have been a pilot school for the new Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) called Fronter and all of our course materials are available ‘online’. This has many advantages over ‘conventional’ courses.

Some features include:

All of our students have a unique Username and Password for this site
They can access the course materials over the internet at anytime and anyplace.
Students can also have direct interaction with their tutors
Work can be submitted electronically for personalised feedback

The ICT facilities at The Ellen Wilkinson High School for Girls are outstanding and some of the best in Ealing. We have 9 computer suites and 3 other networked rooms in the new 6th form building with new, powerful computers. The new Sports Block also has advanced ICT facilities including specialist music studios and practice rooms.
ICT will become integral to the new library study area to keep Ellen Wilkinson at the cutting edge of new technologies.

Having specialist college status has ensured that our ICT resources are up to date; we have over 70 electronic whiteboards throughout the school so the student ICT experience will extend beyond the ICT computer suites. Our school networks and the majority of computers are under 2 years old and all computers have industry standard DSL broadband so accessing the internet is very fast and efficient. Wireless broadband is also part of the infrastructure.
The standard software we use is MS XP Pro, MS Office, Macromedia Studio MX, Adobe Photoshop and a wide range of other software titles.

ICT is an important part of life for everyone - not least the students and staff at the Ellen Wilkinson School.

If you have any questions about ICT then our 4 specialist teachers will be happy to help you.
