KS5

ICT @ KS5 is a very popular and over subscribed course. Girls study for the Applied ICT AS/A Level GCE course that is offered by the CCEA examining board.

This board has also been selected by us for ICT GCSE and there is a distinct continuity between the KS3 ICT National Curriculum, CCEA GCSE and the new CCEA GCE.

The structure and content of the new course is Unit based. This means 3 units in the first year (AS Level) or 6 units in total for the full GCE A Level.

We use a wide range of computer software and specialise in Database design, Spreadsheet design, Digital computer Graphics, Web Page design, Research using the internet and, of course, Word processors/desktop publishing.
Future work is planned to include multi media and digital animation.

We have been a pilot school for the new Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) called Fronter and all of our course materials are available ‘online’. This has many advantages over ‘conventional’ courses.

Some features include:

All of our students have a unique Username and Password for this site
They can access the course materials over the internet at anytime and anyplace.
Students can also have direct interaction with their tutors
Work can be submitted electronically for personalised feedback

Therefore, GCE Applied ICT is a course where a personalised study structure is attained to suit the needs of every student.

Links to exemplar student work, such as web pages and graphics will soon be showcased from this section of the website.
