School Uniform

We ask parents to support us in insisting on full school uniform for all our students in Years 7 - 11.  The uniform is basically navy blue, easy to obtain, and in which the girls look very smart.

All girls should have the following:

Skirt/Trousers

A plain dark navy blue school skirt or plain dark navy blue school trousers. No fashion garments, leggings or jeans.  No black skirts/trousers.

Blouse

A white, open necked shirt/blouse with collar.  This may be short or long sleeved. Tee-shirts and polo shirts are not allowed.

Jewellery

One small pair of earrings (studs or hoops) is the only jewellery allowed.  No dangly earrings, rings or bracelets.  Facial piercings (including nose studs) are not allowed.  Any student with a facial piercing must remove it during school hours.  Failure to do this will result in the pupil being sent home, to return when she has removed the item. The school accepts no responsibility for the loss of confiscated items.

Valuable items such as I-Pods, Walkmans, etc., should not be brought into school.  We can take no responsibility for their loss or damage. We recognise that many parents wish their daughters to have a mobile telephone with them for use at the beginning/end of the school day.  However, telephones should be locked safely away during the school day.  If parents need to contact students, they must go through the main switchboard.  Students may use the telephone in the Divisional Heads’ office or the main during the school day, upon request.

Participation in PE is a National Curriculum requirement.  All girls are expected to take part in the full programme of activities and to wear the appropriate PE kit, in order to ensure that health and safety regulations are observed.  We have consulted with leaders of different faiths and are satisfied that our PE kit respects religious dress codes and is generally acceptable. For health and safety reasons, ALL jewellery must be removed, including earring studs.

All girls may wear tracksuit bottoms and sweatshirts for outdoor activities.  For lessons in the gym or sports hall, we require girls to wear polo shirts and shorts, but if this is not acceptable on religious grounds, they may wear black tracksuit bottoms provided this is supported by a letter from you.

ALL items of clothing MUST be clearly marked with your daughter's name to help us identify lost property.
