Welcome
July 2012 saw a well- publicised increase in the grade boundaries affecting both the final Mathematics paper and the English controlled assessments for our students. As a consequence, a significant number of students did not achieve the C or above grade expected at GCSE.
Despite this we have some of our best ever results at GCSE to celebrate: 76% achieved at least 5 A*-C grades and 99.5% gained at least 5A*-G grades. 27 of our Year 11 girls achieved at least 9 A* or A grades and 38% of our students got at least 3 A* or A grades. Helen Cahilog (12A* and 1A), Lisa Rasool and Maja Kovac (each with 9A* and 3A grades) topped the list. Congratulations!
At A level 40% of our grades were A*, A or B. Nina Sands achieved A*s in both Geography and Chemistry together with an A in Biology to secure her place at Murray Edwards College, University of Cambridge, to read Natural Sciences. Iman Al-Bajati (2A* and 1A), Sarah Abou-Sharif (1A* and 3A grades), Leyla Page and Ameenah Aumeed (both with 2A*s and 1B) were also delighted with their results. Iman and Sarah are now studying Pharmacy, Ameenah reads Dentistry, and Leyla studies French and Art. Other girls are at universities ranging from Queen Marys, UCL, Leeds and Liverpool reading subjects including English, Economics, Law, Media Technology and Aerospace Engineering. 15 girls will be studying Pharmacy, a record for the school.
AS results were very good indeed; the ‘value-added’ achieved by the students puts us in the top 20% of schools nationally, with a significant proportion exceeding their target grades. 76% of the grades were A, B or C, placing the girls in a very strong position as they continue their studies in Year 13.
