Leave of absence and holidays during term time: please note the following Government guidelines and EWS attendance procedures are very clear that holidays or extended leave should NOT be taken during term time and that a continued period of absence from school may put a student’s place on roll at the Ellen Wilkinson School for Girls at risk. If parents/carers still choose to take their child out of school please can parent/carers ensure the school are fully informed by sending the following in to school:

  • A completed student leave of absence form (available from school on request)
  • A photocopy or forwarded/printed email of the flight tickets that have been booked for the leave of absence if applicable.

This should ensure that parents/carers are not contacted about their child’s absence and will assist with the child’s return to school at the end of the period of absence. The school will inform home of whether the leave of absence is authorised or unauthorised in due course.
