School provision update - The school is closed for the majority of students

Dear parent / carer,

The school is now closed for all but a small number of students - children who are vulnerable, and children whose parents are critical to the Covid-19 response and cannot be safely cared for at home.

No other students should be sent into school from Monday 23rd March 2020.

Students who receive free school meals can still come into school between 12:00 and 12:30 to pick up a lunch – please sign in in reception.

‘That is why the government has asked parents to keep their children at home, wherever possible, and asked schools to remain open only for those children who absolutely need to attend.’

Vulnerable children include children who are supported by social care, those with safeguarding and welfare needs, including child in need plans, on child protection plans, ‘looked after’ children, young carers, disabled children and those with EHCPs.

Key workers are those parents listed in the government guidance which you can find here:

If parents think they fall within the critical categories above, they should confirm with their employer that, based on their business continuity arrangements, their specific role is necessary for the continuation of this essential public service. If your child falls within any of the categories above, please let the school know by emailing, stating:

 your child’s name

 your name

 your company

 your role

For key workers, we will need to see a form of Work ID (you can email a photo/copy with your request) to verify you are a key worker. You do not need to contact the school again if we have already confirmed your child’s attendance from Monday. For students attending school:

 The school day will start at 9:00 am and end at 3.00om.

 Students are permitted on site from 8.45 am. They need to be in school from 9am

 They need to go to reception, sign in and wait in reception for further instruction.

Students need to

 Wear school uniform as normal

 Bring trainers

 Lunch arrangements are as per normal – packed lunch, canteen lunch or FSM provision

 Bring their books for the day as normal including pencil case and planner

If we are expecting your child and they are no longer intending to come, parents/carers are to please phone the attendance and email

to inform us that they will not be in.

Please keep an eye on the school website during these uncertain times – we will try to keep you updated as much as possible. I wish you all good health!

Kind regards

Ms R Kruger
